David Mitchell

David is a Cambridge based artist and designer who grew up in Cambridge. He was educated at the Cambridge Art College before studying in Bournemouth. He then spent over 20 years working in design and architecture. Since completing a postgraduate in 2001 in fine art and glass, at Central St. Martins in London, he has concentrated full time on fine art.

Initially he worked principally with glass with a unique 3-dimensional style, before developing as a painter and now works in a variety of mediums. His work encompasses drawing, painting, printing and sculpture. He has developed a range of graphic cycling images including an abstract cycle figure which he used to create a limited number of painted sculptures celebrating the Tour de France in 2014.

His work has included several commissions for illustration, design and architectural glass including the Shrewsbury Centre hospital, HM Prison Wandsworth, Chaucer Syndicates at Plantation Place and The Gonville Hotel, Cambridge. One of his abstract glass works was shown at the RA Summer Exhibition in 2007.
