Jennifer Shufflebotham
Jennifer’s work is inspired by location and places, particularly photographs of these locations and places. These loosely translate through photographs and research online, into drawings and watercolours which inspire and inform loose watery paintings. Jennifer is interested in the subject matter people choose to photograph and why, particularly on holidays or days out. What attracts people’s attention and how taking a photograph can alter our memories of what we have seen. Particular interest in the value of contemporary photography - today we can take hundreds of photos a day, as opposed to fifty years ago whereby photography was a time consuming and costly pursuit. This also ties in to how photographs are shared. In the past sharing photographs on a projector would be a social event with close family and friends, whereas now we can share a photograph to hundreds on strangers online in seconds.
