Kelly Stanford
A Manchester-based artist and science communicator using art to make STEM subjects more accessible to the public. In 2018 Kelly created ‘STEM Bee’ science communication sculpture (first of its kind) for Manchester’s ‘Bee in the City’ art trail which helped raise £22,000 for charity at auction. She has also created two gorilla sculptures for the ‘Go Wild Gorillas’ trail in Jersey (Space Ape and Gerald Durrell which is dedicated to the zoo’s founder). For Cows About Cambridge, Kelly wanted to create a sequel to STEM Bee to help highlight Cambridge’s amazing scientific track record in a sci/tech themed communication sculpture, with an interactive element to include local scientists signatures.
