Design Inspiration

Recognised as one of the most influential scientists, this design celebrates the achievements of Sir Isaac Newton. Mathematician, physicist, astronomer, theologian and author, Newton is famous for his work on gravity, laws of motion and calculus. The playful design features some of his discoveries and inventions. Spot the reflecting telescope, Newton’s cannon, light refraction and the much-debated cat flap! It’s an ‘amoosing’ caricature of one of Cambridge’s most famous alumni.

Cambridge Independent Press was first established as a newspaper in 1815 and was published until 1981. The Iliffe family, which published the title for many years, re-established the Cambridge Independent in 2016 to provide community-focused content in print and online. The Cambridge Independent aims to reflect the interests, concerns and views of the people who live in Cambridge and its surrounding region by creating distinctive, intelligent editorial.
